A Space for Movement, Connection & Presence
A space to breathe, to move, to return to yourself.
After years of teaching in four different countries, guiding both intimate one-on-one sessions and large group classes, I began to listen more closely to something deeper: my own heart.
The more I taught, the more I returned to the roots of what truly moved me. I felt a growing respect for what I had learned — not just the exercises, but the wisdom behind them. The clarity. The presence. The power of Contrology when practiced with intention.
That quiet calling became Essence — a space shaped by experience, guided by intuition, and rooted in the belief that Pilates is not about performance, but about presence.
Here, we stay faithful to the essence of the method — without trends or noise — while leaving room for creativity, curiosity, and a human touch.
It’s a space to breathe, to move, to return to yourself.
Welcome!
MY MISSION
My mission with Essence Pilates is to guide people back to themselves — through movement that is thoughtful, grounded, and alive.
I believe in the quiet power of consistent practice, the intelligence of the original method, and the beauty of meeting each person exactly where they are.
This work is rooted in presence and shaped by care. More than building strong bodies, I’m here to nurture confidence, clarity, and connection — both on and off the mat.
MY VISION
A place where movement becomes a path to healing, strength, and self-discovery.
My hope is that everyone who walks through these doors feels empowered to move, to grow, and to flourish — in their own rhythm, and in their own way.
ABOUT THE METHOD
Where It All Began — and How We Keep It Alive
Joseph Hubertus Pilates (1883–1967) was not just a teacher — he was a mover, a thinker, and a relentless seeker of vitality.
Born in Germany with fragile health, he spent his early years overcoming asthma, rickets, and rheumatic fever. These challenges sparked a lifelong curiosity: how could movement restore not only the body, but also the spirit?
He immersed himself in gymnastics, martial arts, boxing, and anatomy. During World War I, while interned in England, he continued refining what would become Contrology — a method built on breath, precision, control, centering, concentration, and flow. Working with injured and deconditioned individuals, he explored ways to support recovery through mindful, corrective movement.
In the 1920s, Joseph moved to New York with his wife, Clara, and opened a studio that quickly drew dancers, athletes, and performers. What they found wasn’t just a workout — it was a method that built deep, functional strength and awareness. But Joe’s vision was always bigger than the elite: he believed his system could help anyone live a more vibrant life.
He called it the complete coordination of body, mind, and spirit.
At Essence Pilates, this is the root we stay true to.
We teach the full system — from Mat to Apparatus — with respect for the original method and the freedom to adapt it with creativity and care.
This isn’t movement for performance.
It’s movement for life — your life, in your body, just as it is today.
Whether you’re just starting or already deep into your practice, we create a space that supports your movement journey with presence, precision, and purpose.
This is not just a workout. It’s an invitation to move with awareness and to reconnect — to your body, your breath, and your strength.
